Central Park (Sovetski)

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening of the third section of the Central Park in Baku on November 7. Information was provided to the head of state about the work carried out in the park located in the Yasamal district of the capital.
It should be noted that the first section of the Central Park was put into use on May 22, 2019, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. The opening of the second section of the park took place on December 30, 2022. President Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening. It was reported that in the next phase, the 9-hectare area of the third section of the Central Park was fully developed, and a new recreation zone was created in accordance with the most modern requirements. The total area of the new section of the park was cleaned of waste that had accumulated over the years, the soil surface was changed, and appropriate agrotechnical measures were taken.
In total, in 7.4 hectares of this section of the park, 3,500 trees of 19 types and more than 25,000 flowers and shrub plants were planted. To make landscaping more effective, about 60,000 cubic meters of fertile soil was added to the area, and a modern irrigation system was installed.
The main feature of the Central Park's landscaping concept is that this recreation area reflects the seasons of the year. One of the most important features of the project is the construction of an underground tunnel for pedestrians to move freely along Abdullah Shaig Street without passing through the traffic section. Its construction created full connectivity between sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Central Park. Three fountain complexes were built in the area, sports equipment was installed, children's entertainment, as well as football-basketball courts, chess and table tennis courts for the effective organization of leisure time for elderly people were established. In addition, an artificial lake and surrounding conversation areas were created here, which play an important role in making the recreation of guests and residents of our city more interesting.
A modern lighting system was also built in the recreation park. During the development of the area, a historical-architectural monument built at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries and known among local residents as the "Tandır Bath" was restored and returned to its former appearance. The historic and other residential buildings surrounding the park have been substantially repaired, new asphalt pavement has been laid on Suleyman Tagizade and Nabat Ashurbeyova streets, pedestrian sidewalks and parking areas have been created, light poles have been installed, and other work has been completed.
After the construction of the third phase of the Central Park was completed, and new landscaping and development work was carried out in the area, the view of the Tazepir Mosque complex and the Imam Hossein Mosque located on Suleyman Tagizade Street was completely revealed.
Thus, with the opening of the third section of the Central Park, the total area of the park built in the former "Sovetski" area reached 35.4 hectares and became one of the most beautiful recreation spots in the capital.
It should be recalled that in accordance with the directives of President Ilham Aliyev, the volume of development and construction work carried out in Baku has increased in recent years. The construction of the most modern parks and new green belts for the rest of residents of the capital and tourists visiting our country, the restoration of ancient historical architectural examples in Baku, and the construction and commissioning of modern buildings demonstrate the continuous nature of development and construction work carried out in our country. The newly opened third section of the Central Park is also of great importance for further beautification of our capital, increasing the number of green spaces in the city, and ensuring effective rest for people.
